The Cottage

Full of character
spanning generations

Woodside sits at the foot of Glen Sannox with direct access to the beach from the garden. Our traditional cottage home has three bedrooms upstairs, a large lounge with open fire, a library with glen view, two bathrooms, and further sleeping quarters with full-sized bunk beds and flexible additional living space.

The cottage and its entire grounds are available for your exclusive use — by the week, or short breaks by request. Centrally heated throughout with plentiful hot water for deep baths and a power shower, plus excellent drying facilities for when the Arran weather does what Arran weather does.

There are lovely local walks, varied wildlife, pony trekking, a scenic little golf course at the end of the lane, the Corrie Tea Room, and a restaurant pub just a walk away.

🏔
The Glen

Dramatic hill walks from the doorstep. Glen Sannox cuts into the heart of the Arran ridge — Cìr Mhòr, Caisteal Abhail, and the Witch's Step await.

🌊
The Shore

Step directly onto the beach from the garden. Watch seals on the rocks, catch the light over Bute, or simply let the sound of the sea do its work.

🦌
The Wildlife

Red squirrels, red deer, golden eagles, seals, and otters. The whole island is a UNESCO-recognised Geopark.

🥃
The Whisky

Lochranza distillery just up the coast — home of the Isle of Arran Malt. Tours, tastings, and a fine restaurant with views.

The Golf

A scenic 9-hole course at the end of the lane. The Arran Golf Pass covers all seven island courses.

🐕
Pet Friendly

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome. The beach, the glen, the quiet lanes — a genuine paradise for them.

The perfect end
to the day

Evenings here revolve around the open fire and the view. As the light fades slowly over the Firth of Clyde, the lounge is the ideal place to recharge. Whether you're sharing a bottle of local whisky or getting lost in a book, Woodside is the place for slow, easy evenings.

Ideal for...

Woodside has welcomed all kinds of guests over the years. Here's who tends to fall hardest for it.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
Families

Sleeps 6 across three comfortable upstairs bedrooms. A beach at the gate, rock pools to explore, and a garden big enough to disappear in. Children love it here.

🥾
Walkers & Hikers

The Glen Sannox path starts ten minutes from the front door. Goatfell, the Arran ridge, and some of Scotland's finest coastal walking — all within easy reach.

🐕
Dog Owners

A quiet beach, wide-open glens, and peaceful lanes with almost no traffic. Well-behaved dogs are genuinely welcome — this is exactly the kind of place you'd want to bring them.

🌿
Those Seeking Quiet

No city noise, no pressure. Just the sea, the hills, the birds, and a fire to sit beside. Woodside is genuinely, deeply quiet — the kind that takes a day to get used to.

Golfers

Corrie Golf Club is at the end of the lane. The Arran Golf Pass gives access to all seven island courses — including Shiskine, one of Scotland's most beloved layouts.

📚
Readers & Creatives

A library stocked over generations, high-speed Wi-Fi for remote inspiration, and a view of the glen from the reading room window. Come to write, think, or simply read uninterrupted.

🦅
Wildlife Enthusiasts

Red deer, golden eagle, otter, red squirrel, seal — Arran has them all. The coast road north from Sannox is one of the best places in Scotland to spot them.

🥃
Food & Whisky Lovers

Lochranza Malt distillery, fresh Arran langoustines, island cheese, a farmers' market in Brodick. Arran punches well above its weight for eating and drinking.

A cottage with
stories to tell

Woodside has been in the family since 1957, purchased from the Duchess of Hamilton by Air Vice Marshal Ronald Graham, Lord Lieutenant for the County of Bute — the walls hold quite a history.
